Restricted Key Systems

What exactly is a restricted key system?

A restricted key system utilises keys to restrict access to a building or complex. If you’re a business and employ a number of staff who requires access to different areas of the workplace, restricted key systems allow staff to access certain areas hassle free. Each member of your team can go to certain areas they are supposed to, but restrict them from going to areas where they are not authorised to enter.

Restricted key systems can also work for a property letting agent. If all your properties are fitted with restricted keys then you have control over how many keys exist. If you give the tenant two keys when they move in and they give you these two keys back when they leave, you know that these are the only keys that exist for that property, as it’s impossible for the tenant to have copied these keys.

A huge advantage to a restricted key system is the security behind the purchase. Locksmiths will not duplicate a key without a letter or signed order by one of the signatories for the approved system. This gives the owner complete peace of mind knowing just how many keys are in circulation.

How do I know which system to use?

Amalgamated Locksmiths have a system to suit all security applications. The first step is to call us for a free no obligation on site assessment of your property to discuss what type of security you’re after.

Our two most popular restricted key systems are:

Lockwood gen6

The Lockwood gen6 restricted keying system is an ideal solution to your basic key control needs, providing the perfect balance between security and convenience. The Lockwood gen6 offers a range of cylinders to suit both new and retro-fit installations. Cylinders are available to suit all Lockwood commercial locksets and the majority of existing commercial grade hardware installations.

Lockwood MT5

Lockwood MT5 provides the highest possible level of protection against illegal key duplication via the revolutionary Alpha spring. In addition every Lockwood MT5 key will be covered by patent protection well into the future.

There are two levels of security; the base level is the MT5 cylinder that uses a telescopic pin and alpha spring for restricted security. MT5 builds on this by adding a locking bar for optimum security and high level master keying capabilities.

What is the initial set up cost?

Prices start from $44 per barrel and $18.40 per key.

Need additional keys cut?

Additional keys or replacement will be produced upon receipt of written instruction with an authorised signature from the owner. Supply and installation can be done in a day.

At Amalgamated Locksmiths we have over 3000 restricted master key systems in use today, with many large corporations and companies enjoying complete security peace of mind.
