Description

A mortise lock is commonly used for commercial doors, security access doors and doors or furnishings where heavy duty mortise locks or latches are required. A mortise lock is one that requires a pocket to be cut into the door or piece of furniture into which the lock is to be fitted. Mortise comes from the pocket that is cut into the door.

Mortise locks have a long history and can often be found on older residential buildings, but have become more popular in recent years for more commercial purposes and in upmarket residential construction due to its strength over the common bored cylindrical lock.

A mortise lock is ideal for schools, universities, hospitals, hotels, clubs, military installations, offices, apartments, and similar buildings. At Amalgamated Locksmiths, we offer Lockwood mortise locks in a variety of styles and finishes. Styles include vestibule locks, deadlocks, nightlatches, combination locks and many more. Finishes range from bright and satin chrome to Florentine bronze and polished brass.
